Artists Supporting PhatBoy Riding and the High Sierra Foundation's Katrina Relief Fund

Futureman has been a support to the Phatboy riding's Pedal with Purpose Tour from the very beginning. I have been friend's with Future since the very early 80's. We had been working on the Circle of Harmony and this ride is the first social outreach of that project. Please, check out his latest work and find out about Saint George.

Futureman hosted a Fundraiser for the High Sierra Foundation's Katrina Relief Fund on August 23rd. It was an unbelievable time. Please, join with him in supporting the Katrina Relief Fund. I want to thank Futureman for his ongoing support and to all his fans I want to say thanks for joining with us.

For more than a decade Joseph Patrick Moore has been touring, recording, and establishing himself as an artist with a unique voice and a diversity of talents. His skills as bassist; composer; arranger; producer; author; educator and founding partner of Blue Canoe Records illustrate why he is a highly sought after musician. Moore's music and creative vision echoe the spirits of Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Jaco Pastorius, The Police, Paul Chambers, and James Jamerson.

JPM has been a friend for several years and we caught back up with each other, oddly enough on 8/29 one year after the devastation of Katrina. After sharing the vision of the Pedal with Purpose Tour. JPM was on board to support the project and most importantly the musicians in New Orleans. Please, join with him in supporting the Katrina Relief Fund

“For us, ALO is more than just a band and we’re more than just a group of great friends making music together… ALO is our lifestyle With this simple aphorism, keyboardist/vocalist Zach Gill sums up the unique dynamic that defines ALO Animal Liberation Orchestra.  Born from a friendship nurtured during their days at the University of California Santa Barbara, the four-piece collective also includes Steve Adams (bass/vocals), Dan Lebowitz (guitars/ percussion/vocals) and David Brogan (drums).

"They can improvise and jam as good as anyone I've ever seen. But they got these songs that really stick in your head as well." - Jack Johnson

"Each member of ALO could easily be the musical star of their own band, so it's nice to see accomplished musicians like these stick together." - Associated Press

Discovering combinations of World Beat, Reggae, Rock-N-Roll and Americana, CX-1's textural compositions and three-part harmony continue to expand musical boundaries. CX-1 contains former members of ACOUSTIC SYNDICATE and the SNAKE OIL MEDICINE SHOW.

CX-1 Is One Of The Best Examples Of Modern Fusion Music. As a Progressive Roots Power Quartet, the dynamic between Jay Sanders, Andy Pond, George Pond and Billy Seawell is an equal union. Spreading the music and message of universal harmony, these four travelers have been at the epicenter of Western North Carolina's progressive acoustic movement

Formed originally in 1998 by Jeff Mosier, Blueground Undergrass has developed a solid reputation and nationwide following by playing its multi-faceted music mix coast-to-coast. The band has always been known for exciting performances and eclectic arrangements. Its sonic wall of twang type sound pleases the whole spectrum of fans from hippies to cloggers to rockers, taking Blueground Undergrass to the brink of almost moshpit energy, yet guiding each show with song-driven clarity along the way.

Beth and Randy Judy have been friends for several years. When I called to see if they wanted to help with the Katrina Relief Fund, they were very excited about the ride and wanted to help out. Make sure you mark your calendars for March 22-27, 2007 . It will be time to join me at Suwannee Springfest. You will see the new and improved PhatBoy. Get ready for another magical, musical experience!

I met Maryline at a Bela Fleck and the Flecktones here in Atlanta. We talked about New Orleans and I shared with her about the Katrina Relief Fund.  Instantly she asked what she could do to help. I told her about the Give Five Keep the Music Alive Challenge and she said she was on board and wanted to send out something to her great fans. I want to thank Maryline and her fans for helping us reach out and help those in need in New Orleans. Thank you very much ! Check out her music and website.
This six-headed monster from the Midwest has caught on big time, fulfilling critics' declarations that Umphrey's McGee would rocket to stardom. Rolling Stone chose them as "a band to watch" in their annual Hot Issue, Richard Gehr of the Village Voice declared that "no one is doing anything else as ambitiously musical as Umphrey's McGee," and the Washington Post called them "rock's undisputed lord of sonic shape-shifting." Featuring guitarists Jake Cinninger and Brendan Bayliss, keyboardist Joel Cummins, bassist Ryan Stasik, percussionist Andy Farag and drummer Kris Myers, Umphrey's McGee has risen to the upper echelons of the improvisational-rock scene with infectious melodies, thought-provoking lyrics, blistering delivery, and patented sonic sagas that keep fans riveted all night long. Their incredibly tight musicianship and penetrating live shows, which shift effortlessly from prog-rock to metal to funk to jazz-fusion to classic rock covers, have moved many a heady music lover to tune in and turn on to Umphrey's McGee.

The Drew Emmitt Band is led by the lightning-quick mandolinist and talented songwriter formerly with High Sierra favorites Leftover Salmon. Drew Emmitt's latest release Across the Bridge, featuring esteemed guests Del McCoury, Sam Bush and Jim Lauderdale, has been earning him well-deserved praise and national airplay, and this summer the Drew Emmitt Band delighted audiences with their intricate, high-energy acoustic shows. More recently the band has been "plugging in" at their live shows and playing that beloved electric-bluegrass sound pioneered by Leftover Salmon. Don't be surprised if you see Drew breaking out the electric guitar now and again. Featuring drummer Jeff Sipe (Aquarium Rescue Unit, Phil Lesh and Friends), bassist Greg Garrison (Leftover Salmon, The Motet) and guitarist Tyler Grant (Little Sadie), this band combines smokin' Colorado-infused acoustic bluegrass and crankin' loud rockin' newgrass. It's always a high time when Drew Emmitt is in the mix.

Joe Craven wears many hats and plays many things.  He's a madman with anything that has strings attached, including hospital bed pans, gas cans, cookie tins, roasting pots, fiddles, mandolins, tenor guitars, saz, cuatro and a world of percussion instruments including animal bones, latex squeeze toys, cake pans, waste cans, umbrella stands, martini shakers and...Himself. His stage setup more often resembles a yard sale. But there's more to Craven than meets the ear. Visual artist, former museum curator, educator, motivational speaker, storyteller and festival emcee, Joe’s work is born out of respect and reverence and seeks to honor the creative energy in everyone.
Rising from Asheville, NC with a Malian-influenced "Afro-cowboy-ninja-surf" genre all its own, Toubab Krewe has been making waves since its formation less than a year ago. This quintet's instrumental compositions appeal to jam, world music and electronic fans alike. The band "has set a new standard for fusions of rock 'n' roll and West African music," according to Afropop Worldwide and they've even caught the attention of The New York Times: "Toubab Krewe has soaked up the patterns and rhythms of music from Mali, Zimbabwe, Congo, Brazil and the Caribbean and added a hint of Jerry Garcia's legato guitar... Instead of free-form, jam-band leads, the guitarists expanded the songs with African-style patterns, circling and subtly shifting."
String-bender extraordinaire Tony Furtado is a road dog. Playing between 200-250 live dates a year, from the western ski resorts in the winter to the summer festivals throughout the Midwest, through gritty Chicago and glitzy New York, to New England seaside towns and up and down the West Coast, Furtado’s passion is playing his music live and bringing it out there to the people. Accordingly, he’s wooed music lovers and won fans all over kingdom come.

Sharon Gilchrist was born and raised in Southlake, Texas. She began performing mandolin and singing at the age of nine in a bluegrass band Blue Night Express with guitarist and brother Troy Gilchrist. The band was formed at a local music store where teachers put together a group of young students and taught them how to play in a band. The band performed for six years touring nationally and playing along side such bluegrass greats as Bill Monroe, Del McCoury, Ralph Stanley and New Grass Revival.

Sharon also performs with two other artists who have highly influenced the shape, style and sound of bluegrass and acoustic music today, Peter Rowan and Tony Rice. She performs mandolin and sings with the Peter Rowan and Tony Rice Quartet (Rounder Records) as well as the Peter Rowan New Acoustic Trio.
