The Rest of the Story

After being prepped for the surgery. I won't go into details but lets just say they shaved in places that have never seen a razor. Then my family was brought back. One thing about the procedure you are awake the whole time. Not sure if that would be good or bad.

They wheeled me back to the Cath Lab. Then they did some more prepping and hooked me up to some heart monitoring  equipment. They did have some good tunes playing and the surgical team were singing along. Not sure if this was comforting or not. At least they were on key.

It is at times like these you quickly reflect on where you've been and what you still want to accomplish.

They go up through your groin to get to your hear to look around with a camera. The doctor was already looking around my heart before I realized he had inserted anything. So the local was working. after squirting some dye into my heart so he could see any blockage. He tells me..... drum roll please. I guess at this point in making a short story longer....I should go ahead and tell you.

He tells me that there is no blockage ! I was elated. He wanted to look around a bit more to see how the rest of  my heart looked. The valves looked great...so no need for a valve job. Actually my heart is in great shape. He did say their was a slight build up that would be corrected with continued exercise and a healthy diet.

After a few more minutes he stitched me up and said I would be going home in a couple of hours. At this point I'm so excited. I was prepared to have a stent put in and all the additional medications that would require. I thank God for his healing and good report. I also thank all of you for your prayers and positive thoughts. This was a wakeup call for me and I feel like I have a second chance to get healthy without all types of medications. Let's roll !

I will use this experience to fuel the fire of desire to get healthy. I have started on a great path to regaining my life. This was a wake up call and by God's grace I won't see a cath lab again. I want to encourage anyone that needs to take off a few pounds to get off your butt and do it. Don't do what I did for years simply talking about it. Take action. I'll see you on the road or in a spinning class.

The Pedal with a Purpose Tour '06 is my action step to doing do so. Join me in this adventure that will change our lives. If this phat boy can do it You can as well. If you have a guilty conscience and not ready to do something Why not  donate to what I'm doing. It may ease your mind make you feel better, I know Brandy will.
